2004 – Present Beaverton Valley Times, Associate Publisher
– Responsible for all aspects of managing a weekly community newspaper including creating an annual business plan, preparing and implementing budgets, hiring, training and managing staff and interacting with and serving a vital local community.
Accomplishments:
~ Increased net profit while adding 2.5 positions;
~ Established profitable partnerships with Beaverton Area Chamber of Commerce, Beaverton Together, 13 Beaverton neighborhood associations and the Washington County Fair;
~ Introduced revamped newspaper with new masthead, reformatted sections and additional columnists; and
~ Set up extremely successful public meetings that allow readers to interact with staff in an informal setting.

1998 – Present Community Newspapers and the Portland Tribune, Circulation Director – Plan and implement all marketing and promotions for 17 community newspapers. Accountable for the efficient and on-time delivery to more than 635,000 readers. Responsible for all aspects of budgeting, cost containment, sales, collections and customer service. Recruit, train and manage circulation and event employees and contractors in multiple offices. Manage all mailings and postal reporting with over $750,000 annual postage budget.
Accomplishments:
~ Established processes and systems for continuity of service and culture as company grew from group of 6 newspapers to 17 newspapers;
~ Grew paid circulation for every newspaper, with growth ranging between 7% and 45%;
~ Developed sales teams that are involved in over 180 community events annually;
~ Created readership committees that effectively coalesced people from every internal department to focus on improving newspaper readership; ~ Organized and led company-wide strategic planning process involving all employees;
~ Built cause-related promotional campaigns with numerous non-profits and businesses;
~ Implemented media campaigns using billboards, transit, radio and print; and
~ Initiated E-Media team that led to launch of interactive websites, story sharing database and creation of email marketing and breaking news notification campaigns.

1995 – 1998 Eagle Newspapers, Inc, Circulation Director – Responsible for the distribution of four community newspapers with over 57,000 readers. Hired, trained and supervised more than 85 youth and adult carriers. Developed and implemented department budget. Advised circulation staff at 21 company newspapers.

~ Increased subscription base by 18% and revenue by 21% while decreasing costs by 12%;
~ Established popular Newspapers in Education program, sold business partnerships and trained teachers to use newspapers as part of classroom curriculum;
~ Planned and implemented community marketing strategies that included participation at multiple events;
~ Oversaw the installation of circulation software program throughout the company and trained users; and
~ Established door-to-door sales crew and telemarketing team to increase subscriber base.
